Parties
Let's talk about parties.
One of the key differences between Aderant Total Office and Filevine is how parties will be entered on a case.
Due to the nature of how Filevine is built, the "nesting" of parties (one party tiered under another) is not a feature that currently exists.
To help circumvent this, parties (as you know them in Aderant) will be entered in a few different places to keep them organized.
Any Medical party, such as a Medical Provider or Doctor will be added in the "Medicals & Treatment" section.
Any Insurance party will be added in the "Insurance" section.
Any Expert party will be added in the "Expert" section.
All other parties, such as Attorneys, Defendants, Passengers, Host Drivers, Insured Parties, etc. will be added in the standard "Parties" section.
Adding a party in the Parties section.
To add a new party to your case, navigate to the "Parties" section on the left hand side.
Click "Add an Item", circled in green below.
After clicking "Add an Item", you will see a fresh set of fields used to add your new party to your case.
Although the "Subtype" and "Party Notes" are not required fields, we strongly recommend filling out that data in order to keep your case organized.
